Sugar scrubMaking homemade remedies is something I have fallen in love with, I hope to pass that on.

Midwestern winters leave us a little dry and flaky, just saying…we all could use a little help in the department of moisture in Spring.  If you are ready to bring back the natural glow to your body – this is for you!

What you will need:

2 glass jars that are seal-able, air tight.  I bought mine at Michael’s.   Any craft store will have them.

2 1/2 Cups Sugar in the Raw – Picture below…COURSE sugar – this is the best I have found.

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

3 Table Spoons Coconut Extract

3 Table Spoons Vanilla Extract (Mix and match or use one scent straight – doesn’t matter – be playful and have fun!

1/2 Cup Coconut Oil

Step 1..

Sugar in the Raw

If you use only white sugar or brown sugar it won’t turn out the same.  Please use a very course sugar, as pictured.

Step 2…

Add the two sugars together and blend with a fork.  In a separate bowl measure out 1/2 Cup  Coconut Oil and melt it in the microwave for about 30 seconds.  Stir if a little is still solid until all is melted. Please look up all of the benefits of coconut oil on line – it is truly an amazing…as you will see in this scrub!  🙂

Here are the exact things I used…Knock offs or things similar will do you just fine…

Step 3…

Add the 6 tablespoons of various extracts you selected to the coconut oil and stir.  Personally my favorite is Almond extract.

Nope – not the most exciting photo to you, but these are the spoons my Mother cooked with, well before I was born.  She was going to throw them out…now it is the only thing I use to measure.  🙂

Step 4…

Pouring a little bit of the oil extract mixture at a time into the sugar mix well.  Be sure the oil isn’t too hot or it will melt your sugar.  Continue adding and stirring in oil mixture until everything is blended.

Step 5…

Add the mixture to your sealed jars.  Mine filled two 15 oz. jars.

One batch makes two jars

Tie with a pretty ribbon and wha la!  You have the perfect treat for yourself, or for gift giving!  I leave my jar in the shower, rub all over, rinse….silky!  You will never know you went through a Midwest Winter!

There is nothing more important than being pampered…the added bonus is that you made the beauty product yourself, with no added preservatives!  Double bonus…there is enough to share!   Let me know if you enjoyed it!
